JourneyWheels is a travel-planning website for people who organize trips by car. Our main tool is a free road trip planner that helps you work out your route, driving time, stops, fuel use, and trip costs, then lays everything out as a day-by-day itinerary.

We keep the site focused on practical planning: clear inputs, visible calculations, and results you can print, copy, or download.

Our purpose

Planning a road trip usually means switching between a map, a calculator, notes, and a budget. It’s easy to underestimate how long a drive will take or what the trip will cost once fuel, rooms, and meals are added up.

JourneyWheels exists to bring those pieces together in one place, so you can see what each day of your trip involves before you set off and adjust the plan while it’s still easy to change.

We want road trip planning to be simpler, more realistic, and easier to understand.

What our road trip planner does

The Road Trip Route & Itinerary Planner takes the details of your trip and turns them into a structured plan.

  1. You enter your trip

    Your start, destination, any places along the way, trip length, travelers, and vehicle.

  2. It estimates the drive

    Distance and driving time for each leg, based on your route and vehicle type.

  3. It plans your days

    Driving is split into days that fit your daily limit and travel style, with suggested stops.

  4. It adds up costs

    Fuel, accommodation, food, and other expenses, shown with the formulas used.

How we approach estimates

Every number the planner produces is an estimate. We think estimates are most useful when you can see how they were made, so we keep the methods simple and show them alongside your results.

Simple, visible formulas

Costs use straightforward arithmetic, and your results show each formula with your own numbers filled in.

Fuel used = distance ÷ efficiency

Clearly labeled distance sources

Results always say where the distance came from. When no live routing data is connected, distance is estimated and labeled that way. You can replace it with a road distance you’ve checked yourself.

Your prices, not ours

You enter fuel prices and budgets yourself. We don’t present fuel, hotel, or food prices as current market data.

Stated assumptions

Average speeds, road factors, and daily driving limits are listed with your results and explained on the planner page.

Our commitment to clear information

  • We label estimates as estimates. Planning figures are never presented as exact or guaranteed.
  • We explain how results are calculated. Formulas and assumptions are shown on the planner and in your results.
  • We don’t claim live data we don’t have. If traffic, road conditions, or prices aren’t connected, we say so.
  • We keep the tool free to use without an account. You can save your itinerary by printing, copying, or downloading it.
  • We welcome corrections. If something looks wrong or unclear, please contact us.

Important limitations

  • Distances and driving times are estimates and may differ from actual road distances and journey times.
  • The planner does not use live traffic, weather, road closures, or road condition data.
  • Fuel, accommodation, and food costs depend on the prices and budgets you enter.
  • Suggested stops show roughly where to take a break. They are not specific verified locations.
  • Mountain passes and some roads may be seasonal or closed. Always check official sources before travelling.
  • JourneyWheels is a planning aid, not a navigation system, and does not replace your own judgment on the road.
