How this tool works

Each expense has one payer and is shared by the whole group. Equal splitting uses weight 1 for everyone. Custom weights apply to the entire expense pool: weight 2 pays twice the share of weight 1; weight 0 is excluded from shared costs. We calculate in minor currency units, distribute rounding remainders by largest fractional share, and match debtors to creditors. Settlement suggestions balance the total but are not guaranteed to use the fewest transfers.
